Cable and Connector
Cable and Connector
It’s been a hotly debated subject in the audio-video industry how much do cables affect performance? Does it really make sense while investing in such a high-end cable? Many times we can see cable prices are extremely high even though you can buy any quality amplifier in that amount or sometimes the entire HTiB system too. So many times it creates confusion and couldn’t take a proper decision.at this step, any AV engineer only can help how to select a proper cable for specific requirements to get desired output.
There are multiple cable and connector brands in the market with pros and cons. It depends on, what the system is and what source is connected., so the AV cable and connector just become a medium to get the best possible on-screen and through speakers. It might be an HDMI cable or speaker cable or subwoofer cable., components and materials used while manufacturing cables create a major difference. so one cable can get at just one thousand rupees and another one at rupees twenty thousand. yes, of course, output never remains the same.
Quality cables preserve the dynamic, detailed sound of the original recording. But poorly made cables can limit the frequencies you’ll hear at the high and low end. Or they can obscure low-level details, resulting in a sound that’s unfocused and uninvolving. When shopping for better audio cables, here are some features to look for.
Oxygen-free copper (OFC) center conductor
An oxygen-free copper (OFC) center conductor will pass signals accurately, with minimal signal loss. Some high-quality cables use copper conductors coated with silver. Silver is an even better signal conductor than copper.
Good shielding
Good shielding – Look for cables that include two separate shields. Braided copper guards against RFI, and foil guards against EMI.
Good connectors
Good connectors that provide tight contact with your components’ jacks. If the cable you’re considering uses metal connectors, look for the gold plating to prevent corrosion.
Before choosing a cable, you should ask yourself three questions.
Which type of cable is best for the task at hand?
What length do I need?
Do I want to conceal it behind my walls?
